| Review: X-Men: Days Of Future Past serves as a sequel to both X-Men: First Class (which is excellent) and X-Men: The Last Stand (which is pretty bad). Now, I used to be a pretty big X-Men fan a few years ago, but after the disappointments of X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I kind of just stopped caring about the franchise, even though the subsequent two movies were actually very good (the aforementioned X-Men: First Class and then The Wolverine). That being said, I was still looking forward to Days Of Future Past, what with it being the return of the old X-Men crew, and I was also moderately familiar with the Days Of Future Past comic. I was just expecting it to be good though, but it turns out not only is Days Of Future Past the best X-Men movie yet, its also one of the best comic-book movies ever made.In Days Of Future Past, the X-Men of the future are facing extinction due to the sentinels which threaten to wipe them all out. They send Wolverine back in time to 1973 where he must recruit Professor X, Magneto and Mystique in order to change the course of history so that the X-Men may survive.First things first, this is a time travel movie, and time travel movies normally either go very well or very badly. Days Of Future Past marks an occasion where it goes very well, as the time travel logic in this movie is very well thought out and makes perfect sense, I cant pick any holes in it. This movie even manages to validate X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which is something that I thought could never be done. It even feels weird just saying that, because righting the wrongs that those movies made is a huge, monumental task, yet this movie pulls it off perfectly.For a movie thats crowded with so many characters, its surprising that all of the characters included feel meaningful and arent shoehorned in. We have Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine, and theres not much to say about him that hasnt already been said. He is Wolverine, the role is made for him and he absolutely owns it. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are incredible as Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr respectively, their characters have an amazing relationship and the two of them are just phenomenal at pulling it off. We also have the future X-Men cast with the like of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan and Ellen Page, and while they have a lot less screen time theyre still great. I was surprised at how prominent a role Jennifer Lawrence had as Mystique, over the past few months Ive had a growing dislike towards Jennifer Lawrence but I cant deny that she is great in this role. Then we have all of the new characters, like Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage), Bishop (Omar Sy) and Blink (Bingbing Fan), all of whom are great. But there is one new character who is greater than all, and that character is Quicksilver.Quicksilver in this movie is perfect. In fact, its worth seeing this movie just for him. He doesnt have a huge amount of screen time and it comes fairly early on in the movie, but he is the best part of this film by far. There is one particular sequence with him in a kitchen, and it is jaw-droppingly beautiful. The visuals in the scene are gorgeous, the music is perfect, and its both hilarious and stunning. The way that Quicksilvers super speed effect has been done is amazing. Some people thought the costume looked goofy, but I think it works perfectly well considering the time period and the personality of the character. Ive been a big fan of Evan Peters for a while, and he is great in the role, he is very entertaining and has a great screen presence. I never thought Id be saying this, but I doubt Marvel will be able to produce a better Quicksilver in Avengers: Age Of Ultron than the one thats on display here.But you know what I think all this great quality comes down to? | Review: If you seen any of the other 3 movies you seen this one.On the other hand there is so many product placements in this movies It does it make worse. There is even a two minute long light beer ad in the middle of the movie. Of course 5 minutes later theyre smashing into a Victoria secret truck. Then they are drinking some Asian brand milk. Before this there are half dozen car model ads. There are product banners on all the buildings. They Drink brand soda with crazy long camera holds. There is a product placement every 5 minutes and this is no joke.Its also really weird how they say the girl is 17 years old over and over. Then they have a thing about how its legal…I see no point in this at all.I would skip this movie. I dont plan on ever seeing another one. |

| Review: When I first heard about this film and its pedigreed credentials: Director Ridley Scott, Starring Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt, I was excited to see it. However, because of the very poor reviews and box office performance Stateside, I have tempered my expectations before I went to see it. And so should you.The Counselor refers to the nameless character played by Michael Fassbender. He appears to be a very successful lawyer, happily engaged to a gorgeous, church-going girl (Penelope Cruz). However, for some reason this film never really completely discloses, he still felt the need to get himself involved with a Mexican drug cartel for additional cash, peppered with colorful characters, like the wild-haired Reiner (Javier Bardem), his slinky girlfriend Malkina (Cameron Diaz) and the urban cowboy Westray (Brad Pitt). Will the Counselor get away with both the girl and cash?When I saw in the opening credits that the script was by Cormac McCarthy, who was responsible for No Country for Old Men (which I did not exactly like), I braced myself for one puzzling and boring ride.However, it was not exactly all boring after all. There were those pockets of incredible tension and violence involving necks which you will not soon forget. Michael Fassbender was okay as the titular Counselor, but there was nothing about his character which was fully-explored. He is obviously greedy enough to risk everything he had to get himself involved in nefarious criminal activities, but we do not see why. So we end up not caring at all about him. We actually see other characters counsel him, than him counseling others.Cameron Diazs femme fatale character Malkina was unexpectedly well- developed. She is certainly no dumb blond bimbo here. Her scenes though were the most perplexing as to where she was coming from. She has a scene on the windshield of a luxury car that was as head-scratching as it was sensually acrobatic.Javier Bardem is really very comfortable playing these cool sinister types. Penelope Cruz is too good to be true. I expected more out of their characters than what ended up in the final edit we saw, which was disappointing.I found the character of Brad Pitt the most interesting one of all. Every time Westray was on the screen, the story perks up and even the long conversations he has with the Counselor actually made sense. Too bad Pitt was only in about a third of the film or less.The Counselor comes across as a slick action-filled crime caper film at first glance. However as you watch it, you will realize that it was actually mostly long-winded, unrealistically philosophical conversations and monologues from the most unlikely of characters. I think the main problem is the turgid and generally lifeless script which the talents of the director nor the actors could save. |

| Review: Would i count it as Arnolds worst? YES…. For starters theres a patchy screenplay. average production value. complete lack of a co-ordinated background score. below-par acting. incoherent story (blame it on editing). poor characterization. no continuity. unnecessary blood and gore. mindless dialogs. 2 stars here are purely for a bit of action, though it fails to thrill & engage …… there are a few things we expect from any Arnold movie, mainly action and style. we dont mind the story. we like to be awed when we see him in the movie. we relate when he does impossible stuff. BUT here the movie fails to deliver any of these. We dont empathize with any of the characters. the action leaves a lot to be desired. a big let down for Arnold fans and i-told-you-so excuse for his detractors. |

Simply spectacular! Ta that crazy mines leave me deaf, but otherwise! The great movie , and these 5 are a comedy, just perfect! Simply wonderful! One direction are awesome! And a documentary type show and that worked really well! Screaming fans singing along, crying, which is not necessary! After all, the songs are the best parts! With the crowded theater . | Review: Dont be fooled by the sophomoric title which conjures up images of idiots pretending to be cops to pick up chicks, get free things and otherwise act like fools in uniform wait, that is what happens in this film. Still dont be fooled by the title, the movie isnt so much face-palming as it is just mildly and reliably silly.The movie stars Jake Johnson of New Girl (2011-2014) fame as a burned out former college sports prodigy whos currently unemployed and single in sunny Los Angeles. His roommate Damon Wayans Jr. is a video game designer who struggles to bring his ideas to life thanks to a petrifying fear of taking initiative. His new game pitch involves a Grand Theft Auto-type RPG boasting an authentic beat cop experience. So authentic in fact, that he borrows real police uniforms to place on his presentation mannequins. His boss doesnt go for it but at least the two can become a hit at a costume party, thus beginning a ruse that grabs the attention of the ladies, the criminals and the LAPD.The film adds very little to the buddy cop genre save a realistic performance by Rob Riggle as a legit Police officer. The villains are serviceable in menace and acting ability while love interest Nina Dobrev of the ever popular Degrassi: The Next Generation (2006-2009) is breathtaking T&A. The notion of Dobrevs character aspiring to be a makeup artist and not an actress or model is about as silly as Fred Astaire aspiring to be a shoe-shiner. Try as they might the chemistry between the two leads is cordial but no where near the level of Murtaugh and Briggs, Cates and Hammond, Lee and Carter. At best theyre Freebie and the Bean (1974) without the pretense of already being A-List stars.But lets be real, this film isnt trying to be the next Rush Hour (1998), and yes that is the new marker of quality. Its a movie that tries to reassemble the old Blockbuster video crowd who rented Martin Lawrences National Security (2003) and All About the Benjamins (2002) a hundred times because old habits die hard and The Marine (2006) was already rented out. While Johnson and Wayans Jr. may not have the established fan base of Martin Lawrence or Ice Cube, theres no denying the films refreshing lack of pretense and the actors enthusiasm towards the one-trick pony screenplay.Lets cut the BS, what it all comes down to in movies like this is can it make you laugh? The short answer is yes and not just scattered chuckles either. Is it worth a re-watch; probably not. There are some truly inspired moments many of which are provided by Keegan-Michael Key (If Key and Jordan Peele were cast as the hapless fake cops instead of Johnson and Wayans who knows how deliciously absurd this movie could have gotten). Yet the buddy-banter all feels recycled and the action sequences are mundane.I tacitly approve even if Lets Be Cops appeared too late on the scene to be relevant. Those who are limitedly exposed to the clichés of boys-in-blue-type cinema will find something to like, especially when their parents arent in the room. Those with more discerning taste might want to look the other way on this one, not because its offensive, dumb or bad but because its too little of anything. |

| Review: The PlotAn actress named Jill refuses to have dinner with Nick, a fan who won a date with her in an Internet contest. In return, a guy named Chord, posing as Jills campaign manager, helps Nick to follow in the footsteps of the actress from his own computer. Nick starts a game in which he realizes that is only a puppet into the maniac plans devised by Chord, to hunt down the star.Sort of a tech movie written by some one who knows nothing about technology.Its really dumb, even though parts of it are watchable despite being completely unbelievable. He is set to be seen as Mr. Fantastic in the reboot of The Fantastic Four next year, along with four other films. Whiplash proves that he is also a serious actor to reckon with. As the drums prodigy Andrew, Teller looks like he mastered playing that drum set for real for this difficult role. Unlike the piano, it is hard to fake playing the drums. His passion in playing is palpable from across the screen.J.K. Simmons, whom many of us only know as J. Jonah Jameson, Peter Parkers boss, in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films, plays the irascible Mr. Fletcher, a teacher who is never satisfied with only good enough. He plays a hateful character who tended to exceed his boundaries as a mentor, but Simmons imbues Fletcher with other layers so we do not only see him as just the villain. Be it in his expletive-laden tirades or with just one penetrating stare, Simmons drips a malevolence we all feel.Whiplash features some glorious jazz performances since this is about a jazz band. I personally do not like jazz so much, but the precision of the playing and the richness of the music is hard to resist. The perfectly-edited scenes showing the band as they played the most formidable-looking sheets of music had the vigor and energy of a sports match. That super-intense final scene alone will literally keep you at the edge of your seat. The audience in the theater where I watched erupted into spontaneous applause when it ended.This is certainly not just another Mr. Hollands Opus or Music of the Heart. Writer and director Damien Chazelle gives us the same basic student-teacher drama and beautiful music, but presented his story in a most unexpectedly disturbing, suspenseful, violent and even horrific way. |

| Review: Dont waste your money. Rather than conveying the excess of the time, this film is brimming with trite costume and set design, and more than anything – has some really bad acting. Obvious and boring. The actors are not compelling. Ms. Mulligan is so bad, she sounds and looks as it she has been dubbed by another actor. Plus, she is simply not attractive enough in appearance or delivery to convince anyone that she is a love interest. The Myrtle character truly looks like a cartoon. The sets look as if they have been computer generated, which I think they were. The first long shot to Gatsbys house looks amateurish, as if a film student has built a model. And then filmed it. The film contains one cliché after another. Loud does not equal fascinating. Very, very disappointing. This film makes the Redford version look like a masterpiece. |
